Save the Date

what is it?
The first official announcement of your wedding date letting guests know to mark their calendars for the big event. It should be less formal and simple. Ideally the design should match your invitation if you've chosen a collection suite.

do i need it?
It gives your guests time to consider their travel and schedule arrangements well in advance. It’s a good idea if your wedding falls near a holiday or major festivity in your area, and a must-have if you are planning a destination wedding or weekend long celebration.

what do I include?
Include your names, wedding date, location and wedding website if you have one. Also include a phrase that an official invitation will follow.


Invitation

what is it?
The single most important piece of your stationery suite. The invitation tells guests the who, what, when and where of your wedding day. It also sets the tone for your event and should capture your wedding style.

do i need it?
Don't skimp on the invitations. For one of life’s most important events, a physical invitations says to the recipient, “You are important, and I really want you to be at my wedding.”

what do I include?
Hosts names (optional), your names, day of the week, date, time and location of the ceremony. Also include if a reception will follow the ceremony (only if a separate reception card is not included).


Reply Card

what is it?
A smaller card that accompanies your invitation. Guests will indicate whether or not they can attend and mail it back to you.

do i need it?
Yes! The response card confirms your guest list and provides you with an accurate number of people to expect at your event. This can also be very helpful information to create your escort/place cards, seating charts, and the meal quantities you need to report to your caterer.

what do I include?
A space for guests to write their name(s) and whether or not they can attend. This is also the proper place for guests to indicate their meal selection if your event will be having a formal dinner served. Also consider requesting the total # of persons to attend if you need an accurate head count.


Details Card

what is it?
A card that accompanies the invitation and provides guests with more in depth detail about your event. This is a good place to include information that is either too lengthy or not customary to print on the actual invitation card.

do i need it?
This is an optional piece, but it can be very helpful information for guests.

what do I include?
Any details that pertain to your event and would be helpful for guests to know beforehand.

- accommodations / hotel info
- dress code (black tie, cocktail attire)
- if your event adults only
- welcome parties or brunches
- rehearsal dinner
- itinerary / group activities
- transportation / shuttle
- wedding website
- rsvp info for international guests


Envelope Liner

what is it?
A decorative piece of paper that lines the interior of the envelope.

do i need it?
It's a nice finishing touch that adds color and depth, but is completely optional.


Band Wrap

what is it?
A decorative strip of paper that wraps around your invitation set and holds everything in place.

do i need it?
It's a nice finishing touch, but is completely optional.


Program

what is it?
A larger sized card or small booklet that helps guests follow your ceremony by providing detail about what’s happening. It also introduces your bridal party and important family members.

do i need it?
It’s a great way to outline your ceremony and provide a piece for guests to take away as keepsake. If you are having a religious ceremony or have many guests who are of another culture, it’s definitely recommended.

what do I include?
Your names, date, wedding location, order of events, and bridal party. You can also include explanations of traditions, thank you’s, memorials, and special quotes, verses or poems.


Menu

what is it?
A card that describes what food will be served.

do i need it?
It’s a thoughtful touch for your guests to know what will be served, especially for those who have certain dietary requirements. It also a great way to bring a cohesive look and decorate the reception tables.

what do I include?
Food, wine and beverage choices. It’s also a nice place to sneak in a thank you note or describe any special significance about your chosen foods.


Place / Escort Cards

what are they?
Escort Cards tell your guests which table they are to be seated at. Place Cards tell your guests which seat to sit in. 

do i need them?
Only if you are having assigned seats.

what do I include?
Guest name, and table # if applicable.


Thank You Cards

what are they?
A card that thanks guest for their gifts, and/or for their presence at your wedding.

do i need them?
Yes! It is customary to personally thank all your guests for attending your wedding, and for their gifts.

what do I include?
A handwritten expression of gratitude.
